And not just any snake: it was the tiger snake, one of the most venomous in the world. After the shock, this woman reacts with lucidity. She fends off the snake and begins weaving between vehicles before parking on a diversion lane on the Monash Highway, near the Toorak Rd exit, then fleeing from her car, barefoot.

“I feel sorry for this lady”

Once informed, Victoria Police sent a snake catcher to the abandoned car. The latter managed to control the reptile, as evidenced by a photo taken by Victoria police. The woman, in a state of shock, was taken care of by paramedics, who reassured her: she was not bitten, as indicated by a spokesperson for Ambulance Victoria.

Snake catcher Tim Nanninga told the Guardian that motorists were baffled to see a huge snake removed from the vehicle. He also said he was sorry for the lady who was the victim of this unwelcome visit in her car and that it was the very first time he had intervened on a highway.

A very venomous snake

This snake, which measures between 1 and 2 meters and is found on many southern Australian islands, is extremely venomous. Generally, it is not aggressive towards humans, except when the latter surprises it during its reproduction period… according to Animalia, “the venom of this species has powerful neurotoxins, coagulants, hemolysins…”
