Video: Kilauea Volcano Erupts, Launching Lava 300 Meters into the Air

One of the most active volcanoes in the world

Lave's gushes, which are produced by eruption volcanoes, is a natural spectacle that attracts many tourists. This is the case in Hawaii, which has six active volcanoes, including the largest in the world, Mauna Loa, which means “long mountain” in Hawaiian and which occupies almost 51% of the total area of the island.

A 300 -meter jet

This 23rd volcanic episode since December 23, started around 4 p.m. local time, and lasted a little more than six hours, according to Science. The eruption was broadcast live by the Institute of Geological Studies of the United States (USGS). But this time, the jets were more important and more impressive than the previous previous episodes.

Indeed, jets reaching a height of 300 meters were observed during this natural event. “Large lava flows sprang from the two vents and covered about half of the Halema'Uma'U crater soil », Writes the USGS. Here, the word vent means the openings by which the lava comes out. Although it is a pleasure to see for the eyes, it is not without risk for our health.

The dangers of lava gushes

A mixture of ash, volcanic glass and rocks from the Kilauea volcano, reached 1500 meters above sea level, still according to the English -speaking media. USGS scientists are worried about volcanic gas, often made up of high levels of carbon dioxide and sulfide dioxide, produced during this volcanic episode.

These gases can cause respiratory problems for populations living nearby. In addition, volcanic particles can cause irritation in the skin and eyes.
