This Chinese Company Offers Affordable Round Trips to Space!

Space is not (yet) for everyone. Although individuals intend to open this new area of exploration and conquest to as many people as possible, it is currently reserved for an elite. The reason for this: the price of the trip. Indeed, going into space has a cost and at a time when the sector is just starting to develop, the prices are very, very expensive for ordinary people. As in China with the business plan of Deep Blue Aerospace.

Only three years left before the start of activities

In 1957, Humanity, thanks to the USSR, sent its first vessel into space, a satellite called Sputnik 1. Since then, humans have continued to send vessels of all sizes up there: rockets, probes, orbital laboratories, space telescopes and satellites.

Firstly with a scientific desire, that of exploring space and solving its mysteries. Then, little by little, still continuing the mission to explore space, companies wanted to take the step of proposing offers to make space a tourist destination.

In China, it is Deep Blue Aerospace who took this step. In a press release from the brand released on October 23, 2024, the company announced its plan to begin its activities in space tourism from 2027.

An expensive ticket

Obviously, you will have understood, going to space is not for all budgets. And Deep Blue Aerospace intends to flirt with the most important portfolios of the Middle Kingdom to take them all the way up there.

Indeed, as indicated in the press release from the Chinese company, the price of the ticket should amount to 1.5 million yuan, or 211,000 US dollars (€195,106). In China, like everywhere else, not everyone will be able to afford the luxury of going into space.

More precisely, at this price, Deep Blue Aerospace promises to send its passengers into suborbital space and will be entitled, according to the translation of the press release, to “much more than a brief moment in weightlessness. They will be able to experience the immensity and mystery of the Universe as well as discover magnificent landscapes beyond Earth.”

In China, Deep Blue Aerospace will not be alone on the market, since the company CAS Spacebelonging to the Chinese Academy of Sciences, plans to launch its space tourism activity in 2028 according to Reuters.

China, the future great in space

If NASA is today the great leader in space exploration and conquest, a major competitor is starting to appear in its rearview mirror. Indeed, with the desire to become a major player in space, China has invested enormous resources to launch its space activity.

And we can say that the investments paid off. We inevitably think of the feat achieved a short time ago with the Chang'e-6 lunar mission which managed to land and leave from the far side of the Moon in the spring of 2024. But also in fact, perhaps to have gone unnoticed, that China has its own space station, Tiangong. Or that the Middle Kingdom plans to send its first manned mission to the Moon by 2030, but also to attempt to go to Mars as well as beyond the asteroid belt.

In short, ambitious programs and missions which outline the contours of a future space race between the undisputed leader, the United States, and the future number 1 challenger: China.
