This American University Has Developed Stunning Skateboarding Robots!

A university in the United States has designed robots capable of skateboarding independently.

I, robot Or Blade Runner.

In reality, robots are not bad guys who seek at all costs to replace us. They are rather useful in many areas and allow developers to create unusual projects. This is the case of Sangi Teng, a doctoral student in the computational and robotics laboratory at the University of Michigan (Curly Lab), which has developed robots capable of skateboarding.

An unprecedented method

On a video broadcast on social networks, you can see four -legged robots, a bit like a dog, stroll on a skateboard, gaining speed with one of its members, or by making sidewalk descents for example. A possible feat thanks to a development implemented by Sangi Teng and his research team called Discreet-time Hybrid Automata Learning (Dhal).

As explained Iflsciencethis method allows robots to determine themselves when and where their behavior must change. “In the phases of push, shift and ascent, Dhal automatically generates different labels”, explains the doctoral student. A promising method that will allow robots to perform even more complex tasks in a completely autonomous way.

Spot, the Bostons Dynamics robot dog

Other dog -like robots already exist. This is the case of spot, a robot dog developed by the American company Boston Dynamics. This quadruped robot has the ability to move to difficult to access environments.

The site Intuitive robots We detail the many missions of this robot to animal physiognomy. Spot was designed to carry out industrial inspection missions such as automation of data collection, early detection of anomalies, or independent surveillance rounds and doubts.
