Paris-Saint-Germain supporters probably live their last games at the Parc des Princes. Even if the Parisian adventure on the side of the Porte de Saint-Cloud will last a few more years, there is a safe bet for Parisian players to be brought to move to the Paris region elsewhere. The reason for this? A conflict on the property of the stadium between PSG and the town hall of Paris.
Several cities have therefore been candidates to try to attract the capital's club. You can cite Poissy (78), Ris-Orangis (91), Massy (91) and Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (78) who made a foot call to PSG to make him want to have his next stadium built. A decision that has not at all pleased certain inhabitants and certain associations which see very badly the possible arrival of the installations of the club near a natural and classified area where many protected species live.
Everything started from an advertisement to attract PSG
On December 16, 2024, an advertisement published in the sports magazine The team Vusted the city of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines to look at PSG and its project of future complex including a stadium, a shopping center and a hotel complex. The promotional message highlighted two messages:
- SQY has no limit (Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines has no limit)
- And “What better place than Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines to welcome the future PSG stadium?”
And if the initiative has something to make you smile, it did not like certain local associations at all. Indeed, following this publication, a petition having now collected nearly 11,000 signatures requested that the City will abandon the project to welcome PSG in the town.
No supporterism at stake, far from it. The club being a Ile -de -France representative and benefiting from an international image, the city would have a lot to win. However, the place that would be allocated to PSG to build its future stadium would be near an “exceptional area” can be read on the Greenvoice site where it is possible to contribute to the petition.
And this is where it blocks.
A natural area and threatened birds
This is why that fifteen associations decided to be heard with the general public. Indeed, faced with the will of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines “to offer” a land of 50 hectares for PSG installations, several problems were pointed out.
In particular those linked to the consequences that the work and the operation of PSG installations would have in the Natura 2000 area located nearby. This could direct and indirectly endanger many species of birds in a direct and indirect manner due to pollution and the various nuisances induced by such a project.
But beyond animals – although the project can have possible economic benefits, even if there too the text of the petition issues doubts since the PSG project is to have a shopping center build – the inhabitants of the surroundings would see “an essential green lung”Be amputate with a large area.
For the time being, nothing has been acted on the part of the main interested parties. But one thing is certain, PSG should move.
