The “sacred feminine” is the great new age trend that has accelerated following the global pandemic. Books, coaching, Instagram accounts, derivative products (magic stones, cosmetics, tarot, etc.) are very successful, so much so thatMiviludes (interministerial mission of vigilance and fight against sectarian abuses) has placed it under its vigilance in 2024, in the same way as masculinism.
If the craze experiences abuses (fraud , charlatanism, etc.), many women nevertheless find a certain resonance withtheir intimate needs. In particular, this “sacred feminine” develops during 100% feminine courses including the practice of yoga, breathing exercises, discussion groups and even intimate exploration. Why such enthusiasm? Is there something sacred about female sexuality, unlike male sexuality? We decipher the mysteries of this emerging trend, with Jessica Pirbay, sexologist and coach sexuality.
A more complicated self-knowledge in women
If the notion of the “sacred feminine” challenges us, it is between other than it awakens the differences in nature between men and women in their intimate lives. There is the possibility ofbeing pregnantwhich gives a spiritual coloring to the sexual act, of course. But not only that.
What if the “sacred feminine” was above all a story of sexual hormones? Where testosterone, produced massively in men, is relatively stable and varies depending on external stimuli, estrogen is cyclical and more hermetic to the environment. An invisible programming, a gift from mother nature, which directly influences the intimate behaviors of women.
Intuitively, women could therefore seek answers to better understand the invisible forces which act in them. And these responses are all the more crucial for women than for men. The different stages of a woman's intimate life – first periods, pregnancy, childbirth, menopause – involve major biological upheavals, and sometimes abrupt, where the first ejaculations or andropause, in men, are more progressive.
These stages, often emotionally heavy, can be anticipated more calmly within female transmission groups. These groups of spaces can be used to develop a feeling of security and mutual aid, which is more difficult to develop in a mixed environment. Jessica Pirbay specifies “A sisterhood exercise that I like to organize: pair up and offer interactions based on care and kindness. For example, stroking hair or offering a sincere compliment.”
Beyond these “care” exercises, Jessica Pirbay insists onthe primary interest of these groups: to glean valuable advice. “In the circles of women's words, advice from older women to younger ones can really improve our daily lives, our feelings, we feel understood, much less alone in the face of our problems and this helps us to face the future with serenity.“Especially since the internal female genitalia, as well as the origin of the different fluids (periods, ejaculate, urine, etc.) are not as visible as men, which adds to the curiosity.
For Jessica Pirbay, this is where the essence of these meetings lies: “The sacred feminine is is above all regaining awareness of your body, learning to listen to it.“
The sacred feminine to reconnect with your body
The sacred feminine, in the form of internship also means having access to a temporality of awakening of the intimate more personalized than during a relationship with a man. Jessica Pirbay confirms: “What I notice in my internships is that women need to be in what is right for “them” depending on the cycles. Sometimes, they need rhythm , sometimes, gentleness. It's very different from the man who is linear. Many women feel guilty about having an asynchronous libido compared to their partner who they consider to be the “norm”.“< /p>
As in other ecofeminism movements, there is also the broader desire to reconnect with nature, to rediscover the link between different forces of life: “In tantra, there is this idea of reconnecting with a greater whole. For example, this can involve walking naked, between women, a bit like Eve in her Garden of Eden. Another exercise that I like. practice, it is the one where we work on the anchor, “the root chakra”, we tap the Earth with our feet, so as to feel connected to it.“
Reconnect with nature in its intimacy, this is also a trend that we find in contraceptive choices, where natural methods (vasectomy, symptothermy, etc.) are experiencing renewed interest, as well as in herbal food supplements (CBD, Maca etc.).
So if there is no goddess to pray to or magical powers to develop (a priori?), these courses, advice, books, Instagram accounts, etc., partly respond to women's need to better understand their body and their tempo, which is more complex than that of men. Are women sacred? It's up to you to answer.
However, there is currently no scientific consensus on astrology, lithotherapy or even palmistry. Nor even a scientific link established between the feminine cycles and the moon, despite numerous research.
The apple of knowledge bitten by Eve has therefore not finished revealing to us its fruits.
