Clothes don't make a monk
Intelligent and kind, the Lykoi is a sociable cat, capable of analyzing its environment and its living space to adapt accordingly. Its name, “Lykoï”, means “wolf” in ancient Greek. A nickname that he wears wonderfully, because his appearance resembles that of werewolves in fantasy stories. A dark coat, arched legs and an absence of hair around the muzzle and mouth.
Although such a physical description might fuel some reluctance to adopt an animal, the Lykoi is not one bit surly. On the contrary, it is particularly recommended for families with children, with whom it will be friendly. Not very territorial, he can even live with a dog or other cats.
A werecat resulting from a genetic mutation
If the Lykoi is a species of cat that is still little known, it is because it is “recent”. The first members of the species appeared around 2010. Resulting from a genetic mutation, the main ancestor of the Lykoi is the American shorthair. It was only between 2013 and 2016 that the first members of the species appeared in France.
The Lykoi is a particularly rare cat. Today, there are only two specialized breeding farms in France. Its price is therefore particularly exorbitant, between €1800 and €2000. To this basic budget is also added the average budget to understand for the adoption of a cat (between €50 and €200). It is still too early to determine the life expectancy of the Lykoi, but it nevertheless enjoys relatively good health.
