Enhancing Safety: This Airline Invests $2.4 Million to Protect Lives in Emergencies

Is there a doctor on the plane? ” is a sentence that we could no longer hear in the flights provided by Emirates.

Especially since the latter are far from rare. And in full flight at 10,000 meters above sea level there are not many solutions directly on board. Either a passenger is a doctor and can potentially intervene, or the flight is then redirected in an emergency to take care of the passenger.

To avoid these situations that could present a certain danger to the life of the occupants of the cabin, Emirates therefore made the decision to invest $ 2.4 million to deploy a telemedicine station in its 300 planes.

Following in the form of a tablet on board, it is connected to the Emirates medical team on the ground in Dubai. This is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

In detail, this telemedicine station incorporates several features to allow fast and efficient management “such as HD videoconferencing, the diagnosis of remote passengers, the secure data transmission and the electrocardiogram, allowing the Emirates teams for medical procedures to save lives in an emergency”He reads in the airline press release.

A technology that has already proven itself

If Emirates made this announcement to bring to safer flights compared to medical emergencies, it is notably because this telemedicine station would have already been used.

Indeed, in view of the Emirates press release, the technology developed in partnership with Parsys, a company specializing in telemedicine solutions, has already proven itself in a flight to Lyon.

If no date has been mentioned, the airline evokes a “recent theft” during which a passenger had a cardiovascular problem that could be taken care of thanks to the Parsys Medcapture station.

Of course, this new system which should therefore be installed in all the devices of the company will also be accompanied by an even more important training of first aid staff.
