Oleg Shupliak: Master of Optical Illusions
Ukrainian artist Oleg Shupliak is world-renowned for his fascinating optical illusions. His works, which often conceal famous faces such as Van Gogh or Shakespeare, challenge our perception and observation skills. One of his most intriguing creations, entitled “Four Women,” seems simple at first glance. However, it hides three additional women in its details.
Are you up to this challenge?

This seemingly innocuous sketch shows a smiling woman with a full head of hair. But if you look closer between her cheek and hand, a second face appears. And that's just the beginning. As you look closer, two more women are revealed, one hidden in her arm and the other visible on her stomach.
The challenge: spotting hidden women
Finding the four women hidden in Oleg Shupliak's work is a real challenge. The first woman is obvious, but the other three require careful observation and a keen eye. The second woman is located near the first woman's cheek. The third is hidden in the first woman's profile, making her difficult to distinguish at first glance.
The fourth woman is easier to spot, thanks to her lips visible on the first woman's stomach. This complex and confusing image demonstrates this artist's talent for playing with our perception and creating works that captivate and intrigue.
Optical Illusions: A Brain Workout
Optical illusions aren't just fun; they also have cognitive benefits. They force our brains to work differently, stimulating lateral thinking and creative problem solving.
By challenging our visual perception, they help us develop sharper observation skills and understand how our brains interpret visual information. Optical illusions can therefore be a great exercise to improve our mental agility, encourage creativity and even slow age-related cognitive decline.
