Archaeologists Revise a Tudor-Era Historical Site Beneath an English School

In a school located in the village of Sutton in the north of London, archaeologists have made an exceptional discovery: an oven with pottery dated from the Tudor period (1485 – 1603). This find dating back several centuries would make it possible to draw more precisely what local industry looked like in the region.

A random find of a rather rare tool, according to specialists. Indeed, as reported by Bbcarchaeologists explained that such an oven, as great and of such quality, was not at all common in the Sutton region.

Better still, this pottery oven would even make a new look at the industry that turned the region.

“” “This discovery makes it possible to better understand the pottery industry in the vicinity of Sutton, Potton and Everton at the end of the medieval period. It was more important than we thought before, which helps us draw a richer table in life in this region at that time.“Declared the excavation manager at the Bbc.

Vestiges found and soon restored

Alongside the oven found under elementary school, archaeologists also found nearly 300 kg of pottery during excavations. These will be stored in Higgins Museum in Bedford.

The oven and the vestiges found will soon be archived in a digital way and will also be restored in a computer thanks to 3D imaging.
