The space is gigantic and one cannot count precisely the number of celestial objects which compose it. Between the stars, the planets and the smaller bodies, we would not have enough a lifetime to reference them. However, despite this, we can count on the fingers of one hand the number of objects foreign to our solar system who came to visit us. Recently, an unknown celestial body appeared on our radars after a long interstellar journey.
Thus, very recently, an object perfectly unknown to the battalion appeared on ESA radars. His name to sleep standing? A11Pl3z and we absolutely do not know what it is.
It could be an asteroid or a comet, but nothing sure. Future observations and analyzes of this celestial body about 40 kilometers in diameter can indicate its true nature to us.
Currently, it has been spotted around Jupiter, a few hundred million kilometers and would take the direction of March at a cruising speed of 200,000 km/h. The closer he is, the more we will have the opportunity to know more about this celestial body which made an interstellar trip.
This is only the third interstellar object to penetrate our system
Even if we often hear about comets or asteroids “tapping” the earth (millions of kilometers from our planet), you should know that all these celestial bodies belong to our solar system. Because yes, our stellar system is not only the sun and planets, there are a whole bunch of asteroids and comets who live there and which we can observe.
However, it rarely happens that objects totally foreign to our system arrive in our neighborhood. Since we are able to observe the sky and detect certain secrets we have only been able to spot 3 interstellar celestial bodies.
The first was spotted in 2017, he was named Oumuamua which means “scout” in Hawaiian. First described as an asteroid, it turned out that it was a comet. The second, appointed 21/Borisov, discovered in 2019 was also classified in the category of comets.
A11PL3Z is therefore the third heavenly interstellar body to come and visit us. It remains to be seen whether we will have the chance to see him awarded a slightly more sympathetic name.
