AI in Education: Addressing Challenges Stemming from Teachers

A small writing generated by AI, a math problem solved in two seconds, a history course summarized in a few essential points … Students know how to use AI. And that, the teachers understood this well and they let them know by using in particular detectors (more or less reliable) to see if a student really worked or not. Only, these same teachers are now pointed out because, like their students, they would start using technology a little too much.

New York Times Who revealed the pot-aux-roses in April 2025. Indeed, the American daily highlighted the following paradox: the teachers fear the use of AI by their students while they would sometimes use it excessively.

Thus, students from certain universities have discovered intriguing things, some of their courses, but also their duties were generated or corrected by AI. A practice that questions and worries. Indeed, if cheating thanks to the AI as a student, it is serious that when it is when the course that one must study to be evaluated has been generated by an AI?

Recall that the American university system, if it presents prestigious establishments, is also one of the most expensive in the world with years of study which can rise to several tens of thousands of dollars. This is why some students went so far as to request a refund of their tuition fees. Indeed, if what we learn in the classroom was generated by AI, why pay and not do it yourself at home?

Especially when it is not mentioned nowhere that the course studied was done thanks to an AI. Thus, some students even speak of betrayal on the part of their teacher and their university.

AI is not the devil, but you have to know how to dose its use

For the moment and surely for the next few years, AI will become an essential in all sectors of activity. It is therefore not surprising to see her arrive on both sides of the classroom.

However, as with everything in life, everything is a question of dosage. Not all teachers use AI to prepare their course or correct their copies, some integrate it more than others in the educational process.

Thus, teachers have developed means so that AI is an assistant in the course rather than the one “who does the course”. We often find chatbots that have been trained to answer certain questions to find out about evaluation criteria or take up basic concepts without disturbing the smooth running of the program.

Some universities accept that their teachers generate content by AI. However, the latter must be appropriately reported, verified by the university and above all justified. The stated objective is therefore to maintain a minimum of framework and educational effort on both sides of the desk.
