A Mysterious “Paved Road” Found at the Bottom of the Pacific Ocean Near Hawaii

What is the origin of this mysterious brick path?

When the strange vestige appeared on the screen, the team of researchers was very surprised. “” It's the paved yellow road »Can we hear in recording, referring to the path of Oz. But fantasy should not last. According to scientists, it would be hyaloclastites, a type of volcanic vestige.

Why does this geological training look like a paved road? Thanks to strong increases and temperature drops caused by volcanic eruptions. The latter would therefore be at the origin of the right angles and the linear characteristics of this geological formation which resembles a “paved road”.

A brick path discovered in one of the largest underwater reserves: papahanaumokuakeaa

This submarine nature reserve is one of the largest in everyone. Located 3,000 meters deep underwater, its exploration is a real adventure. To date, only 3 % has been explored.

However, scientists seek to increase this figure. The last success in this area was the mapping of the mountain range of the Liliʻuokalani crest. It occupies the colossal surface of around 32,000 km2.

The main goal of the expedition, called “Luʻuaeaahikikekumu”, is to collect samples. The latter will estimate the age of the ridge of Liliʻuokalani. Answering this question could make it possible to elucidate more about the geological origin of the Hawaiian islands.
