Two years ago, IBM, one of the pioneers in the world of computer science and new technologies announced a massive dismissal plan. Thousands of employees lost their jobs, in particular in human resources, to be replaced by the AI. However, the company had not at all planned that this decision would generate a massive recruitment plan afterwards.
From an entrepreneurial point of view, AI saves money if it is given repetitive tasks that were carried out by several humans and especially if the latter are automated. It is therefore in this way that ASKHR took the place of the Human Resources Department within IBM.
And on the financial side, the IBM AI has made it possible to gain $ 3.5 billion in productivity. The tech giant had therefore succeeded. However, the firm may not expect such a turnaround.
From a massive dismissal plan to a massive recruitment plan
For a few months, IBM had therefore separated from a significant payroll due to the dismissal of many of its employees. However, the consequence of the automation of tasks by AI and the profits drawn led to a very important wave of recruitment.
“” “While we have done a huge job to take advantage of the AI, our total job has in fact increased, as this has made it possible to invest more in other areas. ” explained Arvind Krishna, the CEO of IBM, at Wall Street Journal.
Indeed, thanks to the benefits made thanks to Askhr, IBM was able to invest in so -called high added value areas, considered strategic today. Thus, thanks to AI, many positions have been created in the Software Engineering, Marketing or Commercial sector and of course, in the nerve of the war of any Tech company which wants its share of the cake, in AI.
Artificial intelligence as a job creator
Even if this is indeed the case since it is thanks to AI that IBM was able to create new jobs in different sectors, you have to qualify the subject.
Yes AI is able to create jobs. But that does not mean that she did not destroy it. Let us remember that this massive recruitment plan at IBM was generated by a massive dismissal plan.
According to the World Economic Forum, by 2030, the AI will have made more than 90 million jobs around the world disappear and the trend should not be the decline thereafter.
As we have seen, AI is able to create opportunities. You still have to be able to grasp them. It is therefore advisable that, to follow the evolution of the labor market, employees can train in new professions that artificial intelligence emerges and that companies can give them this opportunity to do so by access to training for example.
